HMRC’s Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD-VAT) pilot has been extended. This means that all businesses mandated to use the MTD service from this April are now able to access the pilot and test their accounting systems ahead of the deadline.
According to HMRC over 3,500 businesses have already joined the pilot with the number of daily sign-ups now exceeding 100. Other VAT businesses mandated to join from this October are also joining.
If you are a uk VAT registered business with income above the current VAT threshold of £85,000 you will be affected by MTD-VAT. The main requirement for this is keeping digital records and filing your VAT returns using HMRC-compatible software.
