Morris Crocker Annual Seminar for Charities

Our annual seminar for charity trustees and management staff is free to attend and provides a unique opportunity for charities to update their knowledge on accounting, governance and legal matters.

The seminar is held each May at the Solent Hotel, in Whiteley, Fareham. To our knowledge it is the longest running event of its kind in the area - next year will be the 20th anniversary - and usually attracts around 100 members of small- to medium-sized charities based in Hampshire and surrounding counties.

Our guest speakers in previous years have included members from the Charity Commission, the Institute of Fundraising, the Big Lottery Fund, Hampshire Constabulary and economic commentators and presentations from our own charity clients.

Paul Underwood, Director

Paul has worked with charities for over 15 years.  As well as audit and compliance work, he carries out Internal Examinations and has a particular interest in the effect of VAT and taxation on the charitable sector.  Paul is treasurer of a not-for-profit organisation and is a member of the ICAEW Audit Faculty and the Charity & Voluntary Sector Group.

Stuart Mackie, Senior Manager

Stuart joined Morris Crocker in 2013 from a specialist not-for-profit London firm where he qualified as a chartered accountant.  His expertise is in generating ideas to make sure charities are run efficiently and are compliant with the latest accounting standards.  Stuart currently acts as financial adviser to two not-for-profit clients.
