Preparing for Brexit guidance updated

HMRC have updated their guidance on getting your business ready to export from the UK to the EU after Brexit (currently scheduled for 31 January 2020).

To move goods from the UK to the EU after Brexit, businesses must:

  • make sure that they have an EORI number that starts with GB;
  • check that their importer has an EU EORI number;
  • decide who will make the export declarations;
  • find out if you can use the Common Transit Convention;
  • check the rate of tax and duty for the goods;
  • check what needs to be done for the type of goods being exported;
  • find out how the VAT changes will affect the business; and
  • decide who will transport goods outside the UK

The updated step-by-step guidance can be found on the Gov,uk website

There is also a Brexit imports and exports helpline you can contact for advice
